The 21 and Under Boys category was new for the 2017 World Cup in Dubai as it was previously the Under 19s. So it was a great opportunity for England to make their mark in a World Cup scenario. Everyone in the squad was attending their first World Cup and experiencing their first games at the International Level. The tournament started off with a few losses playing against more experienced nations like Australia, South Africa and New Zealand, but eventually the squad caught a break in their first win at that age group against Singapore. They went on to beat Singapore again a second time in the group stages.

The boys managed to finish in fourth place in the groups stages after the two wins against Singapore, After a close disappointing loss against South Africa, they had to play them again but this time beat them in the World Cup semi-final. England posted 83 in that game and managed to secure the victory by four solitary runs, resulting in the most memorable games in England Under's history.

Preparation for the 2020 World Cup for the age groups began as soon as the 2017 World Cup was over and has been halted this year with the delay of the World Cup to 2021 because of the Covid-19 Pandemic.
